英語の説明文は「核廃絶地球市民ナガサキ集会」の際、長崎ボランティアのM・Kさんが外国からの参加者に説明するために集会事務局関係者の協力で作りました。最終日の打ち上げパーティの席上披露し好評でした。M・Kさんは「この際"ほうきの作り方"の英訳も！」と提案しています。事務局では英訳して下さるボランティアを探しています。事務局へご一報下さい。
We，Japanese,have the same pronunciation between the terms of broom and renunciation when we call them in Japanese,which is "Houki".This tiny "Houki" stands for our wish for sweeping wars away around the world and the term of war is called "Sensou" in Japanese. Therefore,the "Houki" stands for our wish for war renunciation,that is "Sensou Houki". 『我々日本人にとって、日本語で言った場合、箒と放棄（broom and renunciation）は、"Houki"で同じ発音です。この小さな"Houki"は世界中の戦争を一掃するという私たちの願いを象徴しています。また、戦争(War)は、日本語で"Sensou"と言います。 従って、この"Houki"は戦争放棄(war renunciation)、すなわち"Sensou Houki"に対する私たちの願いを象徴しています。』
